Orange County production facility to award studio time to February contest winner

Orange County production facility, Hybrid Studios, will be hosting a Battle of the Bands for the Irvine High School Youth Action Team for a sixth time on February 23rdat Heritage Park Community Center in Irvine. This will be the second Battle of the Bands in as many months for the OC recording studio and youth program; December’s Acoustic BoB, the Akustikoff, was won by Woodbridge High School’s Sara Peyton King on December 8th. As the main prize, Sara was awarded a full day of recording time in Studio A with Hybrid Studios’ lead Producer/Engineer, Josh Brooks.

2017 Battle of the Bands Winner“We were really impressed by the unique qualities in Sara’s voice,” said Hybrid Studios Manager Mike Miller, “We’ve done this contest successfully many times with Irvine’s High School Youth Action Team, and it’s always an amazing and rewarding experience for everyone at the studio. We pick a winner based on the criteria laid out by HSYAT; that includes following all of the event’s guidelines, bringing an audience to the show, and of course, putting on a great performance. Sara definitely had all three of those aspects covered in December’s acoustic competition, and we were happy to award her the studio time. I can’t to wait to see what she’s able to come up with in studio with Josh!”

Of the two yearly shows done by HSYAT, February’s Battle of the Band will feature more full bands and electric music compared to December’s acoustic contest. Six bands and artists from six different high schools within the Irvine School District will compete against each other for a live audience in order to win Hybrid’s grand prize. HSYAT will be selling food and drinks the night of the show to raise money, and as always, the winner of the BoB will be awarded full ten-hour day of recording time in the Santa Ana production facility.
