Hybrid Studios Sponsors 11th Annual HSYAT Akustikoff

Brother and sister duet win acoustic battle of the bands

The Irvine High School Youth Action Team held its 11th annual Akustikoff on Friday December 2, 2016 at Heritage Park Community Center in Irvine. Nineteen acts comprised of Irvine high school students competed throughout the night for a chance to win a day of recording in Hybrid’s Studio A. The battle of the bands was won this time by a brother and sister duo, Calib and Ella Burns, from Beckman High School.

“We’re always blown away by the high level of talent at these local competitions,” said Hybrid lead engineer Josh Brooks, “It was honestly hard for us to pick a winner from so many great acts, but I’m really looking forward to working with Calib and Ella in the studio.”

The Akustikoff marks Hybrid’s third time sponsoring a HSYAT battle of the bands, and another event is being planned for February 2017. The studio provides lighting and sound as well as the grand prize of recording studio time for event winners.
